Privacy Policy

The Sunshine Singer Last updated: 16 April 2026

Hello, and thank you for visiting The Sunshine Singer. This policy explains what happens to any personal information you share with me through this website — what I collect, why I collect it, and what your rights are. I've tried to keep it clear and free of legal jargon where possible.

This website is run by Jasmine Nesbitt Larking, trading as The Sunshine Singer, based in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am the "data controller" of any personal information you provide.

If you have any questions about this policy or the way your information is handled, you can get in touch at thesunshinesinger@gmail.com.

What information I collect

When you use the enquiry form on this website, I ask for:

  • Your name

  • Your email address

  • Your phone number

  • The type of event you're planning (wedding, corporate event, hen do, birthday, other)

  • The date of your event

  • A short message telling me about your plans

I may also collect information automatically when you visit the site, such as your approximate location, the pages you view, the device and browser you use, and how you arrived at the site. This is standard website analytics information and is used to understand how the site is performing.

How I use your information

The information you share is used to:

  • Reply to your enquiry and arrange a call to discuss your event

  • Prepare quotes, bookings, and any paperwork related to a confirmed performance

  • Keep a record of our conversations and any agreements made

  • Understand how the website is being used so I can improve it

I will never sell your information or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

My legal basis for processing your information

Under UK GDPR, I need a lawful reason to handle your personal information. Depending on the situation, the basis will be one of the following:

  • Legitimate interest — when you send an enquiry, it's in both of our interests for me to respond and discuss your event.

  • Contract — once you book me for an event, I need to process your information to fulfil that booking.

  • Consent — for any optional things, such as signing up to hear from me in future (if offered).

  • Legal obligation — for example, keeping records needed for tax purposes.

Who I share your information with

I keep things lean, but a few trusted services help me run this business. Your information may pass through:

  • Squarespace — the platform that hosts this website and processes enquiry form submissions.

  • Google (Gmail / Google Workspace) — where I receive and reply to your emails.

  • Google Analytics — which provides anonymised information about website visitors.

These providers have their own privacy policies and are bound by their own data protection obligations. I only share what's necessary for them to do their job.

I may also share your information if I'm legally required to — for example, in response to a court order or a request from a regulatory body.

Cookies and embedded content

This website uses cookies to help it function properly and to understand how visitors use it. You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Some pages may include embedded content from third parties, such as Instagram, YouTube, or Vimeo. These services may set their own cookies and collect data about your visit. I'd recommend checking their privacy policies if you'd like to know more.

How long I keep your information

I only keep your information for as long as I need it:

  • Enquiries that don't lead to a booking — kept for up to 12 months, then deleted.

  • Confirmed bookings — kept for up to 7 years after the event, to meet tax and accounting requirements.

  • Website analytics — retained according to the settings of the analytics provider (typically up to 14 months).

Keeping your information safe

I take reasonable steps to protect the information you share. Enquiry data is stored within reputable platforms (Squarespace and Google) that use encryption and secure servers. That said, no method of transmitting data over the internet is 100% secure, so I can't guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Ask to see what information I hold about you

  • Ask me to correct anything that's inaccurate

  • Ask me to delete your information (where there's no ongoing need to keep it)

  • Ask me to restrict how I use your information

  • Object to certain uses of your information

  • Ask for your information to be transferred elsewhere in a portable format

  • Withdraw your consent at any time, where consent was the basis for processing

To exercise any of these rights, email thesunshinesinger@gmail.com and I'll respond within one month.

Making a complaint

If you're not happy with how your information has been handled, please talk to me first and I'll do my best to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator:

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time — for example, if I change the services I use or if the law changes. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.
